In many places across the country, school is already back in session. It’s hard to believe September is just a few short weeks away along with the unofficial end of summer – Labor Day! What better way to end the months of fun-in-the-sun than by safely celebrating with delicious food, refreshing drinks and yard games? So today we’re sharing with you our tips for planning your Labor Day simply and efficiently, along with a few ideas for delicious recipes and festive décor!

Step 1: Connecting with Friends & Family

Holidays are a great time to connect with friends and family from all over. Following the color scheme for this patriotic holiday is both easy and affordable. And of course, no Labor Day would be complete without refreshing, summer-inspired drinks. We’ll share our favorite strawberry & mint lemonade that can be made with or without alcohol, so everyone in your household can enjoy it:

Refreshing Strawberry & Mint Lemonade

For this drink you’ll need your favorite lemonade, fresh mint, strawberries, lemon, ice and vodka if you choose. You’ll also need mason jars or a tall glass to serve the drinks in.

  1. In a mason jar, combine the lemonade, the optional vodka, a few sliced strawberries and mint leaves. Muddle the fruit until it’s slightly mashed.
  2. Next, fill the mason jar with ice and add the rest of the mint and berries.
  3. Top with more lemonade, vodka and a sliced lemon.

Then, sit back, relax and enjoy your Labor Day with a refreshing glass of your handcrafted beverage!

Step 3: Choose Your Decor

Planning around a red, white and blue-themed holiday could not be easier! There are so many things you can do to add a patriotic-look to your house or yard. We love to buy inexpensive decorations and turn them into something special. For example, simple red, white and blue streamers can be purchased from your local dollar store. Hang them across a doorway or your outdoor bushes, add some string lights and your yard will be instantly that much more festive.
