Masculine Ship Card by Pam

Hello Stamping Friends! Today I’ll be sharing with you a new technique you can do with your ink pads.

I loved inked landscapes and seascapes as card backgrounds, so when I saw this Clipper Ship Craft Stamp on the Simply Stamps website, I instantly had a great idea!

I used six colors for this card. If you don’t have the same colors, experiment on some scrap paper until you find a combination you love. I love experimenting with different color combinations to create the sky, water, fields, and sunsets.

  • Craft ink – I used 2 shades of yellow, 2 shades of green, and 2 shades of blue.
  • Sponge applicators or daubers
  • 1 ¼” circle punch
  • Scrap card stock
  • Scrapbook Adhesive

  1. Punch a circle out of the scrap card stock.
  2. Use the hole as a stencil to ink the sun in yellow ink.
  3. Create a sky using blue ink, covering the sun with the punched circle to keep blue ink away from the yellow ink.
  4. Use a straight edge of card stock to create a line for the horizon. Continue with blue ink down to the horizon.
  5. Cover the blue in with the scrap paper, so you can ink below the horizon in green.
  6. This technique is difficult to explain and much easier to understand while watching me do it in the video.
  1. After finishing the background, stamp the Clipper Ship.
  2. Fold the light blue card stock in half to create the card base.
  3. Using scrapbook adhesive, attach the inked and stamped card stock to the medium blue mat. Then attach both to the base.

With different colors combinations, you can make so many different sceneries.   Visit Masking Technique for Handmade Cards  http://www.psiloveyouscrapbooking.com/masking-technique-for-handmade-cards/ for another example using this technique.
