Even Floridians get excited about Fall. It doesn’t matter to us that the leaves on our tree’s don’t change color – the thing we get most excited about are the cooler temperatures. It’s so nice when we get to open up our windows and let in the breezy Fall air – not to mention it gives our air conditioning units a much needed rest.
Just like our northern counterparts, we break out the cozy knit throw blankets, sweaters, and scarves and start preparing ourselves for the coming winter. So what can you and the family do to capitalize and celebrate the arrival of Fall this year? Why not start some new traditions or borrow some from other homes and families and make them your own!
Here’s a list of some of our favorite Fall activities, from our families to yours!
1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch!
The very best way to kick off the Fall season is to visit a local pumpkin patch! Not only do they make great decorations for around the home, but you can use pretty much all of it! Make a pumpkin pie, bake some healthy seeds, and make a homemade jack o’ lantern! Perfect for a night in with the kids or just because! Year after year, it’s the little things like this that really make an impression and create new heartwarming memories!
2. Go to the County Fair!
Now we know how difficult this one will be for everyone. All the rides, cotton candy, and vendors can be overwhelming right? Not so much! Everyone loves the fair! Its rides and games are fun for the whole family. If you are one of those types that loves a good carnival ride, you’ll agree that nothing beats the view of the fair from the very top of the Ferris wheel! Unfortunately, the county fair only comes around once a year so be sure to get on those rides while you can!
You don’t need Christmas to arrive to throw an awesome get together; Thanksgiving is right around the corner – not to mention all those Halloween costume parties! But are you sure you’re ready? No doubt that you’ve got the serving bowls, the punch, and the snacks, but don’t forget to invite everyone! Maybe we’re a bit old fashioned, but receiving a letter (not a bill) in the mail is always exciting and makes us feel special and loved! Sending an email may be quick and easy, but it’s also impersonal – there’s nothing exciting about getting an email anymore, but an actual letter, or an invitation by mail is truly something special! But don’t forget to add a festive touch to all of your mail this season! We’ve got some adorable Fall return address stamp designs perfect for any task big or small!
4. Pour yourself a cup of spiced apple cider!
Simply Stamps favorite go-to source for all things home and crafty is Pinterest. Pinterest is full of homemade cider recipes designed to warm you from your fingertips all the way down to your toes. Yes, you can always just go to your local neighborhood store and pick up some pre-made cider, but where’s the fun in that? Pinterest is full of tasty DIY recipes for cider! Here’s an apple cider ice cream float recipe for the kids, or for the adults that want to kick back and relax after a long day, here’s a rum infused recipe that will make your insides squeal with delight!
5. Eat or drink a pumpkin-spice-something!
Even before October officially started, the Pumpkin Spice season had already begun. Countless local stores and food chains were already promoting all of their yummy seasonal pumpkin spice products. While it has no doubt become the staple spice of the season, no Fall celebration is complete without it. So whether you want to create your own pumpkin spice dish or leave the cooking to the professionals and just pick something up from the store, a pumpkin spice something is a must in order to properly embrace the Fall season.
While there are a million unique and fun ways to celebrate Fall, make sure you don’t let it go to waste. Embrace some of our traditions or make a few of your own, either way, we would love to hear about it! Have a special Fall tradition? Let us know in the comments below!
