Known as the "City of Cowboys and Culture," Fort Worth is an exciting city rich with preserved Western heritage. From its origins as a frontier army camp, Forth Worth grew into a bustling Chisolm Trail cow town, then an oil boom town, and finally a cosmopolitan city and leader in natural gas extraction. Today there are over 1000 natural gas wells scattered throughout the Fort Worth area. The city's attractions, however, are conveniently concentrated in three main districts. In the Downtown/Sundance Square District, visitors will find plenty of restaurants, shops, and live music clubs, as well as one of the world's finest opera venues, Bass Performance Hall.

The Cultural District is popular with museum-goers, as it includes three art museums, a science museum, and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, all clustered in a pleasant park-like setting. The Stockyards Station district is the best place to experience Forth Worth's western heritage and cowboy culture. It features wooden sidewalks, Western wear shops, authentic Texas BBQ joints, and a twice-daily cattle drive. On weekend nights, visitors can watch professional bull riders compete at the Stockyards Championship Rodeo at Cowtown Coliseum. After the rodeo, visitors can complete their western experience with drinks, live music, and two-step dancing at Billy Bob's Texas, the world's largest honky tonk joint.
