Donuts Birthday Card by Crystal

Hello, Simply Stampers! Today I’ll be creating birthday cards featuring a really fun donut stamp and a few other supplies that can be found on Simply Stamps. I hope you enjoy following along on this project with me. Let’s get started!
donut stamp
I generally order unmounted stamps as it allows me to freely use them as I please. For this project, it worked best for me to mount the stamp onto it’s wood block, so I began with that step first.

Next, I prepared my card stock by trimming all the pieces I wanted to use. The background card stock I used is the pink, yellow and blue plaid piece you see above. I trimmed that piece to 4.25in x 5.50 in.
card stock layout
I trimmed my pink card stock 1 centimeter smaller than my plaid, background piece, then trimmed my white card stock 1 centimeter smaller than the pink piece. You can be as creative as you’d like in selecting your patterned and colored card stock as well as your color scheme in general. Just use these measurements as a guide.

Next, I stamped the white piece of card stock with my donut stamp from Simply Stamps six times in a light brown ink. I stamped a single donut onto a separate piece of card stock.

I then colored in the frosting of the single donut on the separate piece of card stock.

I used copic markers RV10 and RV32 to color the frosting pink, then colored the donut in E11 and E15.
donut cut out
Once dried,  I cut out the donut.
happy birthday sentiment
On a new piece of card stock, I heat embossed the “Happy Birthday” sentiment.

Next, adhere the colored donut and the “Happy Birthday” sentiment onto the white card stock with six donuts. I used 3D foam adhesive.

My favorite stamps are the ones that can be used with different sentiments. This donut stamp can be used for a birthday, thanks or just to say hello card. The best part about designing your own greeting cards is what they look like and say is entirely up to you! I hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial!
