With Christmas just a few short days away, we all know what we’ll be celebrating next: the New Year! Celebrating New Years is always a blast because you can reminisce on the year that’s passed and make big plans for the one that’s soon to come. Many of us will have our work, fitness or other personal goals in place before the clocks strikes midnight, but let’s not forget to let 2017 go out with a bang! If you’ve decided to throw your own New Years Eve Bash, you’ll of course want to create a night you and your loved ones won’t soon forget. But the holidays are a busy time and can also be expensive, so whether you’re short on time or want to throw an amazing party on a budget, we’re here to help! Check out our DIY invitation and decor ideas, as well as our favorite appetizer and cocktails recipes to help you bring in the New Year in style.
Of course the very first thing you’ll need to do is spread the word about your party! To make things a bit easier, you can find your favorite boxed stationery set, or if you’re on a budget you can make party invitations on your own. We love to keep everything metallic and black when designing things for New Years Eve parties, so grab an appropriate amount of black card stock, depending on how many guests you’ll be inviting, and your favorite craft stamps. Some of our favorites for the occasion are the You are Invited and Yes Way Rose craft stamps. Using a metallic craft ink on black card stock will really make your cards pop! You can also create your own custom sentiment, like Cheers to the New Year, or whatever you’d like with a custom line stamp. Add glitter or some fun washi tape and your fun, DIY invitations are done!
Next, you’ll want to think about what kind of food you’ll be serving. We always recommend to serve bite-sized appetizers that your guests can snack on as the night goes on! This way, there’s plenty for everyone and your friends and family can try a little bit of everything you make. It’s nice to keep things simple with an array of different dips, salads, and cheese and crackers, but Classy Clutter has a whole list of great appetizers perfect for your New Years party!
When it comes to cocktails, you’ll of course want champagne to be on the menu. But drinking bubbly all night long can get old pretty quickly, so instead try using it as just the main ingredient in your concoctions. Champagne pairs perfectly with so many different liquors, juices, and even fresh fruit, so check out some of our favorite cocktails recipes for your New Years Eve Bash on Gimme Some Oven.
Your decorations are arguably the most important part of your party because they set the entire mood for your guests. That being said, you don’t need to go out and spend a ton of decor to make your party a hit! Instead, get lots of balloons, confetti, and a few other party favorites and get creative. If you want to make your space look amazing and festive on a budget, here are some of our favorite ideas:
- Photobooth with Props
If you have black, gold or silver wrapping paper left over from the holidays, you’re already half way done. Setting up a fun photobooth area for your friends to take photos in front of is a step you won’t want to skip when setting up for your party! Pick a relatively open space in your house and tape your wrapping paper to the walls to create a simple yet awesome backdrop for all the photos. Next, stop by your local dollar store or head to Amazon to find a pack of festive paper props. Nowadays, nearly everyone has a smart phone, so any and everyone can be a photographer on the night of your party!
- Add Confetti, and Lots of it
While you’re at the dollar store, get confetti… LOTS of confetti! There are so many fun things you can do with confetti that will instantly make your party space more fun. Add it to the tabletops around your house or place it in small boxes to pass out to your guests. Either way, make sure everyone has some confetti on hand at midnight so your house sparkles as the ball drops.
- Black & Gold Balloons
As we mentioned before, black and gold should be the color scheme of choice for any New Years Eve party! Fill your house with lots of black and gold balloons for a sleek yet festive look. They’ll also serve as a great additional prop for your photobooth.
- String Lights
If you had clear string lights hung throughout your house for Christmas, be sure to leave them up for your New Years Eve Bash. Twinkling string lights are a great touch to any space, but they’re even more perfect for your New Years Eve celebration.
The holidays are a busy time for all, but throwing an amazing New Years Eve party doesn’t have to be time-consuming or costly! With these tips, you’ll be able to plan a night all of your loved ones will remember forever and do it with ease. We hope you have a wonderful night surrounded by friends and family, and an even more amazing 2018!
