Types of Rubber Stamp Bodies and Their Uses
Rubber stamp bodies can be divided into six main categories: pre-inked, self-inking, custom wood handle stamps, European hand stamps, pocket stamps, and heavy duty professional stamps. Pre-inked stamps
Pre-inked stamps have a built-in ink reservoir, which makes them very easy to use. Simply press the stamp onto paper and you're done. Pre-inked stamps are also very durable, and can last for up to 50,000 impressions. However, pre-inked stamps are typically more expensive than other types of stamps, and the ink color cannot be changed. They are not ideal for rapid repeated stamping, but are the best choice if you are looking to make highly accurate detailed impressions (i.e. art designs, logo branding).
Self-inking stamps
Some of our most popular stamps. Self-inking stamps are similar to pre-inked stamps, but they have a smaller internal ink pad that needs to be re-inked every few thousand impressions. Self-inking stamps are also less expensive than pre-inked stamps, and the ink color can potentially be changed. Self-inking stamps are the best choice for when you need to rapidly and repeatedly stamp things with the same color (i.e. holiday cards, repetitive office stamping tasks).
Custom wood handle stamps
Custom wood handle stamps are the most traditional type of rubber stamp. They require a separate ink pad, but this gives you the flexibility to use different ink colors and to re-ink the stamp as needed. Wood handle stamps are also the most affordable type of rubber stamp, and they are available in a wide range of sizes and shapes. We hand craft our wooden stamps at our facilities here in the USA. They give a good clean impression and can come in very small or large sizes, making them particularly good if you are looking for a custom size.
European hand stamps
European hand stamps are a type of wood handle stamp that is much more elegant than the classic wood, but ultimately stamp in a similar fashion. Although they do not offer quite the same amount of size options as the classic wood version, they have a much sleeker look and finish, with a unique curved handle (think European sports car vs. American muscle car).
Pocket stamps
Pocket stamps are small, portable stamps that are perfect for on-the-go stamping. They have a self-inking mechanism, which makes them very easy to use. Pocket stamps are a good choice for people who need to stamp documents or packages on the go such as notaries, doctors and other professionals.
